Hazmat Shipping

Hazardous materials require special handling, packaging, and labeling. The shipper is responsible for packaging shipments in accordance with applicable regulations and carrier requirements. Goflow automatically sends the appropriate hazmat designation to supported carriers.

Goflow supports hazmat shipping with the following carriers:

Marking Products as Hazmat

Assign hazmat codes to all dangerous goods in your product catalog. Use the appropriate code from the UN Dangerous Goods List.

To assign a hazmat code to a single product, update the Hazmat Code in product fields. Enter the UN code directly, or search by its dangerous goods description.

To update products in bulk, use the product uploads. Enter the numeric UN code in the Hazmat Code field. Both four-digit and non-padded values are accepted. For example, 0004 and 4 are treated as the same code.

To view the hazmat codes assigned to your products, include the Hazmat Code field in a products custom export.

Shipping Hazmat Products

When you create a shipment containing hazardous materials, Goflow automatically sends the appropriate hazmat designation to supported carriers. If required, the carrier will include the appropriate regulatory markings on the shipping label.

Hazmat designation may significantly increase shipping rates and may limit the available shipping methods.

If a package contains products with different hazmat codes, only a single hazmat designation is sent for the entire package.
