Connecting and Managing a USPS Direct Account

Goflow integrates with USPS directly to offer discounted shipping rates. With USPS Direct, you can:

Connecting a USPS Account

To connect your USPS account, follow these steps:

  1. Follow the general steps for adding a carrier account.
  2. From the list of carriers, select USPS, and choose USPS Direct.
  3. Enter an account name, and click Save.
  4. Click Authorize to be redirected to the USPS portal.
  5. After successful authorization, you’ll be redirected back to Goflow.

Mapping CRID Locations

A CRID (Customer Registration ID) is a number assigned by USPS to identify a business shipping location. A single account can have multiple CRIDs, each representing a different facility or origin point.

Each CRID can have one or more MIDs (Mailer IDs) associated with it. There are two main types:

To view your MIDs, go to Manage Locations in your USPS Business Portal. The Master MID is identified with a MASTER tag. A valid Label MID for shipping labels has OUTBOUND listed in the Program column.

To generate USPS shipping labels, both a Master MID and a Label MID are required. In location mapping, assign one or more warehouses to each CRID, then select the Master MID and Label MID to use for that CRID. Follow these steps:

  1. From the left sidebar, go to DirectoryShipping Carriers, and open your USPS account.
  2. On the CRID Locations card, click the pencil icon to edit.
  3. For each CRID, assign the warehouses that operate from that location.
  4. Select the Master MID and Label MID used for that CRID.

Selecting a Rate Type

Most business accounts do not get special rates with USPS. Their best option is to use the Goflow discounted rates pre-negotiated with USPS. Larger enterprises may have their own Negotiated Service Agreement (NSA) with USPS, which may offer more competitive rates.

Select the option that gives you the lowest rates. Follow these steps:

  1. From the left sidebar, go to DirectoryShipping Carriers, and open your USPS account.
  2. On the Settings card, click the pencil icon to edit Rates.
  3. Select Discounted or Negotiated.
  4. Click Save.
