Managing Postal Zones
Postal zones are user-defined areas made up of custom lists of postal codes. Use postal zones to group regions that should follow the same rules for warehouse assignment and shipping policies. For example, a postal zone can represent:
- Distance Ring - An area around a warehouse that qualifies for one-day or two-day delivery.
- Proximity Cluster - Postal codes closer to Warehouse A than Warehouse B.
- Special Region - Remote areas with longer transit times or higher shipping costs.
Your carrier can provide postal code charts to help define these areas around your warehouses.
To create a new postal zone, follow these steps:
- From the left sidebar, go to Settings › Shipping, and select Postal Zones.
- In the upper right, click New Postal Zone.
- Enter a name for the zone.
- Select the country.
- Enter or paste up to 50,000 postal codes.
- Click Save.
You may create overlapping zones where a single postal code appears in more than one zone. For example, the same postal code might belong to Zone 1 for Warehouse A and Zone 2 for Warehouse B.
To edit a postal zone, follow these steps:
- From the left sidebar, go to Settings › Shipping, and select Postal Zones.
- Click the zone you want to update.
- Update the zone name if needed.
- Click Update Postal Codes.
- Enter or paste the updated list of postal codes.
- Click Save.
Changes to postal zones can affect existing shipping policies and warehouse assignments rules.
To delete a postal zone, follow these steps:
- From the left sidebar, go to Settings › Shipping and select Postal Zones.
- Click the zone you want to delete.
- Click the Delete button, and confirm the deletion.
[!Note]
You cannot delete a postal zone that is currently used in proximity fulfillment.
